Common analytical approaches include enzymatic recycling assays, high-performance liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry. Enzymatic recycling measures total glutathione after converting GSSG back to GSH, while separation methods can quantify GSH and GSSG separately. Derivatization may be used to improve detection or stability during analysis. LC-MS/MS offers high specificity and can distinguish glutathione from related thiols and adducts. Each method has different sensitivity, throughput, and susceptibility to interference, so method selection depends on the study question and sample matrix.
For solid glutathione reagents, storage at low temperature and protection from moisture and light are typical precautions. Aqueous solutions can oxidize over time, and pH affects stability; alkaline conditions generally promote thiol oxidation. Some protocols prepare fresh solutions, while others use antioxidants or chelators to limit metal-catalyzed oxidation. Purity and counterion content can vary among commercial preparations, affecting concentration calculations. Certificates of analysis and validated assays help verify identity and purity.
Measuring glutathione in biological samples requires attention to oxidation, because GSH can convert to GSSG after sample collection. Blood and plasma samples are often treated with acid or alkylating agents to preserve the reduced form. Without stabilization, apparent GSH concentrations can fall while GSSG rises. Differences in sample type, handling delay, and deproteinization method can produce results that are not comparable across studies. Reporting preanalytical details is therefore important for interpreting findings.
Quality control for glutathione measurements includes calibration with authenticated standards, internal standards where available, blank correction, and spike recovery checks. Because glutathione can form during sample processing or degrade before analysis, pre-analytical handling is a major source of variability. Interlaboratory comparisons often show differences in reported values due to method-specific calibration and detection principles. Interpretive thresholds are context-dependent, and no single reference range applies across all tissues or matrices. Researchers generally report both reduced and oxidized forms, along with the method and sample handling details.
Quantification of glutathione in biological or food samples commonly uses liquid chromatography coupled to ultraviolet, fluorescence, electrochemical, or mass spectrometric detection. Because the thiol group oxidizes readily, samples are often acidified or derivatized immediately after collection to stabilize reduced glutathione. Enzymatic recycling assays and colorimetric kits offer higher throughput but generally lower specificity than chromatographic methods. Mass spectrometry can distinguish glutathione from related thiols and allow simultaneous measurement of oxidized forms. Reported concentrations depend strongly on sample type, extraction procedure, and analytical platform.

== Industrial uses == Pentanes are some of the primary blowing agents used in the production of polystyrene foam and other foams. Usually, a mixture of n-, i-, and increasingly cyclopentane is used for this purpose. Acid-catalyzed isomerization gives isopentane, which is used in producing high-octane fuels. Because of their low boiling points, low cost, and relative safety, pentanes are used as a working medium in geothermal power stations and organic Rankine cycles. It is also used in some blended refrigerants. Pentanes are solvents in many ordinary products, e.g. in some pesticides.
== Major political parties in parliament == African National Congress The ANC was founded in 1912, but were banned by State President Charles Robberts Swart in 1960, remaining so until the ban was lifted thirty years later by President F. W. De Klerk. The ANC became the leading political party in South Africa after the first multi-racial election in 1994. The party's main platform, which is based on a social democratic ideology, rests on working towards racial equality and eradicating the socio-economic classes which are often based on race. The ANC has been considered a party for native South Africans, especially before 2009 when party leader Jacob Zuma faced multiple accusations regarding corruption, particularly using public funds for his own purposes. The economic difficulties in South Africa, as well as police brutality have both been blamed on the ANC. Currently, the ANC holds 230 seats in parliament. Support for the ANC went down between the 2014 and the 2019 general elections, with violent protests erupting all over the country in response to the allegations of corruption within the ANC and the non-delivery of municipal services. Democratic Alliance The DA was formed when the New National Party, the successor to the apartheid-era National Party, merged with the Democratic Party and the Federal Alliance in 2000 to form an alliance. The DA is an opposition party and has been traditionally supported by South Africa's minority communities (White, Coloured and Indian).
Pattern hair loss is classified as a form of noncicatricial alopecia, i.e. a sort of non-inflammatory non-scarring hair loss. Male-pattern hair loss begins above the temples and at the vertex (calvaria) of the scalp. As it progresses, a rim of hair at the sides and rear of the head remains. This has been referred to as a "Hippocratic wreath" and rarely progresses to complete baldness. Female-pattern hair loss more often causes diffuse thinning without hairline recession; similar to its male counterpart, female androgenic alopecia rarely leads to total hair loss. The Ludwig scale grades severity of female-pattern hair loss. These include Grades 1, 2, 3 of balding in women based on their scalp showing in the front due to thinning of hair. In most cases, receding hairline is the first starting point; the hairline starts moving backwards from the front of the head and the sides.
Afghan local sources in Panjshir said the Taliban were moving heavy military equipment, including weapons and vehicles, into mountainous areas to protect them from potential Pakistani airstrikes. Local sources in Bamyan, sharing a photo of a helicopter that had landed in a civilian area of Bamyan airport near residential homes, said the Taliban had also hidden Black Hawk helicopters, armoured vehicles and heavy weapons in different parts of Bamyan. The sources expressed concern that these actions were endangering civilians.
Pizza Hut also offers a chicken wing menu. The menu was launched in 2003 under the WingStreet branding in existing Pizza Hut franchises, with the plan to turn WingStreet into a standalone chain. Yum! Brands predicted aggressive growth, adding more than 4,000 locations by 2010. In 2012, the company opened a standalone pilot store in Denton, Texas. The store was unsuccessful and closed the following year.

(company) with violating the whistleblower protection Rule 21F-17 by having employees sign confidentiality agreements that threatened repercussions for discussing internal matters with outside parties. President Donald Trump announced plans to dismantle Dodd-Frank in 2016. In addition to the Dodd-Frank programs and the False Claims Act, other U.S. agencies have their own whistleblower reward programs, including the Internal Revenue Service, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, the Department of Transportation, and two programs administered by the Department of Justice, one focused on corporate crime and the other on antitrust violations. The US Department of Labor's Whistleblower Protection Program can handle many types of retaliation claims based on legal actions an employee took or was perceived to take in the course of their employment. Moreover, in the United States, if the retaliation occurred due to the perception of who the employee is as a person, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission may be able to accept a complaint of retaliation. The importance of whistleblowers has risen within the technology industry in particular as it has expanded in recent years. Prominent tech whistleblowers such as Frances Haugen, Mark MacGann, and Peiter "Mudge" Zatko have all come forward publicly to draw attention to particular problems at their companies. With technology companies increasingly acting as federal contractors, the importance of whistleblower laws to the industry continues to expand.
== Lead-204, -207, and -208 == 204Pb is entirely primordial, and is thus useful for estimating the fraction of the other lead isotopes in a given sample that are also primordial, since the relative fractions of the various primordial lead isotopes is constant everywhere. Any excess lead-206, -207, and -208 is thus assumed to be radiogenic in origin, allowing various uranium and thorium dating schemes to be used to estimate the age of rocks (time since their formation) based on the relative abundance of lead-204 to other isotopes.
==== United States ==== In March 2020, the FDA changed the regulatory pathway for approval of new insulin products. Insulin is regulated as a biologic rather than as a drug. The changed status gives the FDA more flexibility for approval and labeling. In July 2021, the FDA approved insulin glargine-yfgn (Semglee), a biosimilar product that contains the long acting analog insulin glargine. Insulin glargine-yfgn is interchangeable and less expensive than the reference product, insulin glargine (Lantus), which had been approved in 2000. The FDA requires that new insulin products are not inferior to existing insulin products with respect to reduction in hemoglobin A1c.
The commission noted that "the Russian intervention in Georgia was not limited to a “Blitz”-type action and was not solely focused on rescuing and evacuating Russian citizens." The commission said that "the constitutional obligation to protect Russian nationals [...] cannot serve as a justification for intervention under international law", adding that "Russian domestic law can [...] not be invoked as a justification for a breach of an international law." The commission suggested that "it seems abusive to rely on their need for protection as a reason for intervention, because Russia itself has created this reason for intervention". The commission concluded that "the Russian intervention in Georgia cannot be justified as a rescue operation for Russian nationals in Georgia."
Six different types of vancomycin resistance are shown by enterococcus: Van-A, Van-B, Van-C, Van-D, Van-E and Van-G. The significance is that Van-A VRE is resistant to both vancomycin and teicoplanin, Van-B VRE is resistant to vancomycin but susceptible to teicoplanin, and Van-C is only partly resistant to vancomycin. The mechanism of resistance to vancomycin found in Enterococcus involves the alteration of the peptidoglycan synthesis pathway. The D-alanyl-D-lactate variation results in the loss of one hydrogen-bonding interaction (four, as opposed to five for D-alanyl-D-alanine) being possible between vancomycin and the peptide. The D-alanyl-D-serine variation causes a six-fold loss of affinity between vancomycin and the peptide, likely due to steric hindrance.

Preanalytical factors such as sample type, time to processing, and stabilization method can change GSH and GSSG amounts. Analytical method and calibration also contribute to variation. Comparing absolute values across studies requires caution.
These assays typically measure total glutathione after oxidizing or reducing steps convert GSSG to GSH. A colorimetric or fluorometric signal is proportional to the recycling reaction. They generally do not report GSH and GSSG separately unless additional steps are used.
Solutions are often prepared fresh and kept cold, with protection from light and oxygen exposure. Chelating agents may reduce metal-catalyzed oxidation. Storage recommendations vary by buffer, pH, and concentration, so protocol-specific guidance should be followed.
Acidification lowers pH and helps prevent oxidation of the thiol group during extraction and storage. It can also precipitate proteins and stabilize the reduced form before analysis.
